Event: Risk Champions Workshop (Mandatory Training for Risk Champions)

Enterprise Risk Management for Risk Champions Workshop provides an overview of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and all the underlying elements, including risk appetite, governance, and roles and responsibilities. The workshop includes the attributes for effective ERM process effective, such as using risk-driven metrics and linking ERM with the organization's strategy. The workshop will incorporate practical exercises on constructing ranking systems, setting up risk matrix, establishing risk appetite and development of risk appetite system. Risk champions will appreciate methods for auditing the ERM process by assessing the process according to the COSO framework, components principles.

The workshop will cover:

  • Fundamentals of Risk Assessment.
  • Gap analysis of the ERM program.
  • Best Practices of Risk Assessment Activities.
  • Enterprise Risk Management Oversight: Emerging Trends and Benefits.
  • Risk and Control Frameworks.
  • Constructing Risk Ranking Systems.
  • Risk Matrix and review of Risk Registers.
  • Practical Guidance on Establishing Risk Registers.
  • Practical Guidance on Establishing Risk Appetites and Development of Risk appetite statement.
  • Driving ERM Initiatives and Implementation Projects: Design to Integration.
  • Overall ERM process, including governance, execution, and reporting.
  • Risk Management Monitoring and Reporting Framework.
  • Corporate Strategy and ERM: Embedding ERM into the Strategic Plan, Business Commitment, Policy, Risk Management Plans, and Continual Improvement.
  • Review of policy framework and development of ERM handbook.
  • Practical exercises and case studies on the risk management process.


The workshop will be held from November 11-15, 2024, at Hylise Hotel, Naivasha. Charges are KES 49,000 and KES 55,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.
