It is paramount for Internal Auditors to embrace and learn new technologies and implement new tools and techniques to effectively respond to shifting business and risk landscapes. Themed "New Horizons: Securing the Future", the IIA Kenya will hold the 21st Annual Seminar to focus on the future of the profession and both new and existing opportunities to cement their role as trusted advisors for public sector, private sector, and not-for-profit making organizations. The Seminar will prepare participants to embrace and learn new skills, explore technologies and ideas in the face of disruption, provide an opportunity to network with peers, and explore tools and techniques to respond effectively to shifting business, assurance, and risk landscapes. The Seminar will focus on innovation, data privacy, Internal Audit standards, Governance Risk and Compliance, emerging issues, leadership and ethics.

The Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah is currently the Leader of the Majority Party in the 13th Parliament and the Member of Parliament for Kikuyu Constituency. During his first term in Parliament, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah served as Vice-Chairman of the Public Investments Committee, a member of the Committee on Parliamentary Powers and Privileges and member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives. He was also nominated to represent Kenya for foreign policy experience and exposure in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). In the 12th Parliament, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah served as the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee until 2019. As the Chairperson of the Committee, he displayed astute and exemplary leadership as well as excellent communication skills. Passionate about the overall welfare of the citizenry he made major contributions aimed at ensuring proper utilization of resources during the budget making process. He was also a member of the Committee on Appointments and the Committee on Members Services and Facilities. In his legislative role, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah has sponsored various bills including the Alcoholic Drinks Control (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and the National Disaster Management Authority Bill (2019). He has also made significant contributions to bills relating to his field of study such as the Insurance (Amendment) Bills, The Public Finance Amendment) Bills, the annual Division of Revenue Bills and annual County Allocation of Revenue Bills. Further, in the 12th Parliament, he also proposed amendments to the National Assembly Standing Orders to allow bills that had passed the First and Second Readings stages in the previous term of a House to be reintroduced without pre-publication scrutiny. The proposal led to the amendment of the Standing Orders and now promotes expedited processing, republication and reintroduction of Bills that lapse at the end of a Parliamentary term in the subsequent House. Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah has been ranked by Mzalendo Watch as one of the best performing Members of Parliament for his contributions to the business of the House. He was also rated among the top 5 MPs by Infotrak for his legislative prowess and eloquence. He was also lauded for the impeccable management of public finances such as the National Government-Constituency Development Fund for development projects. Kimani Ichung’wah is proficient economist with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Economics and History) from the University of Nairobi. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) and a proud alumnus of the Alliance High School.

Currently the Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority, Capt. William K. Ruto is a seasoned mariner who has practiced and worked both in private and public sector, where under private sector he worked at sea starting his career as a Cadet Marine Deck Officer from 1991 until December 1998 where he joined KPA as a Deck Officer Trainee Pilot. He completed his seatime training as a master mariner and attained the highest qualification as a Ship Captain (Class 1 Master Mariner FG) from South Tynside College, School of Nautical Science - UK.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Strategic Management option, from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
He is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute (AFNI) and a Member of International Harbour Master’s Association (IHMA – UK).
He has attended various local and international seminars and workshops on shipping, maritime, transport and logistics matters. He has done Port Security course at the University of Maryland (USA), IMO course on Port Management and Operations, in France - Port Le Havre France and several other short courses on port maritime and management.

Leonard Okoth is an audit leader with more than 16 years experience in Assurance, Governance and Risk Management. He is currently the Chairperson of IIA Kenya and Acting Director, Internal Audit and Risk Department at the Central Bank of Kenya. Previously, he worked with Safaricom as Senior Manager, Internal Audit and Housing Finance as Internal Auditor.
Leonard has extensive Board experience spanning many organisations. Currently Board member Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, where he is the Chairman of Internal Audit Standards Committee. Previously, He served as Board Audit Committee member of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, Board member Safaricom Sacco and Board Chair, Kwoyo High School in Homa Bay.
Leonard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Maseno University and a Masters degree in Strategic Management from United States International University. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). She is the Acting Internal Auditor General of the National Treasury and heads the internal audit function in Ministries, State Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of National Government. She has over 25 years of experience in accounting and auditing.
She has offered leadership in the development of strategic plans of the department and as a result assisted many audit units in MDAs to develop their respective strategic plans for their audit units.
She has spearheaded the development of risk management policy framework for the IAGD and guidelines for developing institutional risk management frameworks for the national government.
She has coordinated trainings and guided in put up ERM processes in Several MDAs in National Government.
She has guided the development of audit manuals for national government and coordinated capacity building of auditors on audit approaches in both national and county governments.
She has played an instrumental role in the establishment and operationalization of Audit Committees in MDAs through capacity building, and she is a Member of several Audit Committees representing the Principal Secretary, National Treasury.
She is a holder of MBA Finance and CPA(K) and has undertaken various courses in IT Audits, Risk Management and several Management courses.

Greg van Choyke, MATD is the Director of Strategic Global Initiatives for the Certification and Global Development team at The Institute of Internal Auditors. Greg, who earned his Master of Arts in Training and Development from Roosevelt University in 2010 and has a background in association management, joined The IIA in 2017. In his role at The IIA, Greg is responsible for the strategic global initiatives and marketing efforts for the department by helping our global network of affiliates and chapters. Greg’s primary responsibilities also consist of collaborating on strategies regarding the communications and marketing for The IIA’s core certifications and designations: the flagship Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) certification, the Certification in Risk Management Assurance® (CRMA®), the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership® (QIAL®), and the Internal Audit Practitioner designation. In addition, Greg’s duties also include maintaining affiliate relationships with more than 100 North American and international offices, sustaining high customer satisfaction and guiding marketing efforts in support of The IIA’s products and services. Greg has worked in the United States, Germany, and the Bahamas throughout his association tenure.

Patricia Kiwanuka, an accomplished financial services and management expert, currently leads Revenu Stream Limited, a financial consulting firm she founded in 2017. With over 20 years of experience in Eastern Africa, she held key management roles at institutions like Old Mutual, Sanlam, and Zamara Actuaries within the investment, insurance and retirement benefits industry. Patricia's expertise extends to board positions at NSE Clear Ltd, WPP Scanad, and AAR Insurance Kenya. She is a trustee of the Banki Kuu Scheme and a Council Member at the United States International University – Africa among others. A CFA(R) Charter holder, Patricia holds Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology, Business Administration (Finance), and a Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics. Dr Majid Twahir is the Associate Dean, Research and Innovation at the Strathmore University
Business School and works as a lecturer in the Institute of Healthcare Management. Over the last
30 years, Majid has worked between University of Nairobi and Aga Khan University starting as
an Assistant lecturer to senior lecturer and administratively becoming an Associate Dean, Clinical
affairs. He has simultaneously also worked in the healthcare industry starting from a junior doctor
to hospital leadership.
Majid has a Doctorate in Business Administration from United States International University
(USIU-A) and a Master of Business Administration from Strathmore Business School. He also
holds advanced medical qualifications - Post Fellowship Certificate in Nephrology, Master of
Medicine (Internal Medicine), Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery. Majid has also
recently qualified with a Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Nairobi. Majid is trained
arbitrator and mediator and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Majid supervises
various students at PhD and Master level. He has previously supervised various Master students in
medicine and management disciplines. He has published extensively in both medical and
management journal.

He is currently a non-executive member of the Board of Trustees at Strathmore University
Foundation. He was founding advisory council member of Executive Health Management Program
of Strathmore Business School and served in this council for two terms. Majid's previous work
experience in the industry include being the CEO of AAR Hospital, Hospital Executive Director
at the Nairobi Women's Hospital, Director of Operations and Utilization management at The Aga
Khan University Hospital, Nairobi and the Medical Director at the Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa.

Dr. Olaka is the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA). Dr. Olaka served as CEO of KBA since October 2010. Previously, he was the Director of Operations of the East Africa Development Bank (EADB) and also member of the senior management team in charge of the credit operations and business development of the bank. Dr Frank Njenga graduated at the University of Nairobi in 1975. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1980 after training at the Mandsley Hospital in London. He was subsequently elected Fellow of the College.
He taught at the University of Nairobi before venturing into full time practice in 1983. Through the media, public lectures as well as talks to professional bodies and schools, he was, for a long time the face of mental health in Kenya.
Over the years, he led the campaign against stigma of mental health using among other methods, the mass media. His TV series, (Frankly speaking) broke the silence over mental health issues and led Kenyans to embrace the message that mental illness is common and treatable.
He is the Author of several books, including a text book of Psychiatry, numerous scientific publications as well as long running column in the Business daily. His latest book healing the mind, published in 2022 is available at all Chiromo Hospital branches and major bookshops.
In public life, he served as Chairman NACADA, and was founder Chairman of AAPAP (Association of African Psychiatrists and Allied Professions). He is founder Chairman of CHG.
Most recently he was Chairman of the National Task force on mental health and subsequently the Presidential Advisor on mental health in Kenya.
