Themed "Value, a Moving Target", the Institute of Internal Auditors Workshop for Boards, Audit and Risk Committees, Heads of Internal Audit, and CEOS will be held from April 24-28, 2023 in Singapore. The workshop is being held at a time when there is pressure for Boards and Audit Committees to add value to their organizations in an increasingly complex environment. Boards and Audit Committees also have to understand how their organizations operate, their strategies, the risks they face, their role and culture as well as get the best from management if they have to deliver value.

This workshop is ideal for existing and new Board members, members of Audit Committees, CEOs, County Executives, and Heads of Internal Audit in the public sector, private sector, and not for profit making organizations. The workshop will discuss a wide range of issues affecting the Governance and Internal Audit Profession in Kenya and globally and provide benchmarking opportunities for internal auditors and audit committees in Kenya which will be critical in enhancing their skills and competencies. The workshop will cover the following areas:

  • Role and emerging expectations of Boards and Audit committees: Purpose, mandate, responsibilities, and coverage.
  • Legislative And Regulatory Requirements: Leading practices across the world.
  • Techniques for running effective Board and Audit committees: Leveraging the individual capability of committee members.
  • Risk management and compliance: Fraud and corruption prevention.
  • Three-pillars approach for measuring and reporting audit committee's contribution: Value-added activities pursued and outcomes achieved.
  • Expectations of Boards and Audit Committees in Internal and external audit delivery.
  • Case studies and success stories on Internal Audit Governance.
  • Futuristic Board: Technology and the Boards of tomorrow.
  • Getting the right support with clear, concise, and meaningful reporting: Lessons from the Asian Tigers for Kenyan Boards.
  • Work-Life Balance for Internal Audit.

Charges are KES 140,000 exclusive of VAT. The cost excludes accommodation. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours. Participants from Kenya do not require a visa to travel to Singapore. Non-Kenyan participants are advised to apply for Visas in good time, make their own travel and accommodation arrangements, and check COVID-19 travel requirements for visiting Singapore.

The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is NITA/TRN/558(25b). Participants who are registered levy contributors can apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. This applies to Kenyan citizens and is subject to NITA regulations.
