This workshop will provide Board Members, Board Audit and Risk Committee members, County Executives, CEOs and Internal Auditors with the tools necessary to function effectively and provide clarity on their roles and reporting responsibilities based on key legislation and leading practice.

The workshop will help participants examine best practices useful in putting in place, effective Boards, Audit Committees, and Internal Auditors.

The case study-based workshop will address the particular professional development needs of new and existing Board Members, Board Audit and Risk Committee Members, and Internal Auditors.

This workshop is ideal for existing and new Board members, members of Audit Committees, CEOs, County Executives, and Internal Auditors in the public sector, private sector, and not for profit making organizations. A wide range of issues affecting the Governance and Internal Audit Profession in Kenya and globally will be discussed. Participants will have opportunity to benchmark with peers and explore ways of enhancing their skills and competencies and strengthen governance in their organizations.

The workshop will cover:

• Roles and emerging expectations: What Boards and Audit committees should know on purpose, mandate, responsibilities, and coverage.
• Legislative and Regulatory Requirements and practices.
• Effective Boards and Audit and Risk committees.
• Strengthening Internal Audit Function.
• Oversight of Risk management and Compliance.
• Supporting Organizational Ethics: Role of Boards in a Changing World.
• Measuring and reporting the audit committee's contribution.
• Financial Statements Review: Expectations of Boards and Audit Committees.

The workshop will be held from December 4-8, 2023 at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, Mombasa. Charges are KES 49,000 and KES 54,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.

The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is NITA/TRN/558(25b).
