Organizations whether in public sector, private sector or not for profit making are taking advantage of technological advancement to maintain a competitive edge, manage risks and achieve set objectives. As technology advances so are fraud schemes. Technology enables fraudsters to commit and conceal traditional fraud schemes more easily. For instance, fraudsters are able to produce supporting documentation such as bank statements and easily conceal fraudulent acts that are costly to organizations. It is important for Internal Auditors develop skills that will enable them to stay ahead of fraudsters and keep abreast of available tools and technology. IIA Kenya will hold the workshop to explore how Internal Auditors can make use of a number of tools and data analysis techniques to help fulfil their duty to provide independent oversight. This workshop will examine techniques for effectively engaging with teams and management to identify fraud, assess the risks related to fraud, given the advancements in technology and carry out forensic Audit and Investigations.


The workshop will cover:

  • Organizational fraud risk governance and management.
  • Roles responsible for preventing, detecting, assessing, and investigating fraud.
  • Purpose and benefits of utilizing a fraud risk management framework.
  • Role the internal audit activity may play in the organization's fraud risk management program.
  • Requirements for the internal audit activity to provide assurance for fraud risk governance and management.
  • Fraud Risk Assessment.
  • IT fraud risks and data analytics tools used in detecting fraud.
  • Technology fraud risk assessment.
  • Cyber Security Auditing.
  • Using open-source intelligence to prevent, detect and respond to Fraud.
  • Ethical guidance on Fraud and Investigations.
  • Forensic Fraud Investigation: Collecting and protecting evidence.
  • Legal Issues related to Fraud Examination.
  • Addressing Mobile and Internet Banking Breaches.
  • Computer Forensics and Online Fraud.

The workshop will be from February 17-21, 2025, in Mombasa. Charges are KES 65,000 and KES 70,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.
