Event: Forensic Audit Master Class Workshop

Date: March 4-8, 2024

Venue: Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, Mombasa

The role of Forensics Audit is an integral part of the Internal Audit both locally and globally. IIA Global singles out Cybersecurity, IT governance, and data security as the number one risk. In Kenya, private and public sector organizations have taken the position of zero tolerance to fraud and unethical behavior. This is a testament to the complexity of the overall Forensic Audit and fraud investigations landscape of the past few years and the need for Internal Auditors to build skills that will make them resilient to the changing nature of fraud and cyberattacks. This workshop will equip participants to prepare organizations to respond to fraud depending on the resources at their disposal. Participants will appreciate how proactive organizations put fraud awareness and forensic audit measures in place while reactive organizations put response mechanisms within the internal audit function that allow some internal auditors to investigate fraud. Participants will appreciate why and how internal auditors need to develop the skills and expertise necessary to discharge their duty in conducting investigations without jeopardizing evidence. Participants will be exposed to IIA's Standard on Due Professional Care when engaging fraud examiners, and forensic, legal, and investigative experts to rely on their work in carrying out investigations.

The workshop will cover:

  • Technology and Forensics: Navigating Online Fraud.
  • Governance of Fraud and Investigations.
  • Cyber Security Auditing.
  • Using open-source intelligence to prevent, detect and respond to Fraud.
  • Fraud Risk Assessment.
  • Ethical guidance on Fraud and Investigations.
  • Forensic Fraud Investigation: Collecting and protecting evidence.
  • Legal Issues related to Forensic Audit.
  • Addressing Mobile and Internet Banking Breaches.
  • Procurement Fraud Risk Assessment.

The workshop will be held from March 4-8, 2024, at Sarova Whitesands, Mombasa. Charges are KES 65,000 and KES 70,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.
