Event: Building a Sustainable Quality Assurance Program. (Mandatory Training for Audit Managers)

Date: November 18-22, 2024

Venue: Sarova Whitesands Resort, Mombasa

The Government of Kenya through Gazette Notice No 5440 of 8 July 2014 adopted the International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF) for Internal Auditing Standards by IIA. This requires all Internal Audit functions in state organs and public sector entities to adhere to IPPF.

There is a need for an Internal Audit function that is committed to quality by meeting the expectations of stakeholders and at the same time improving the effectiveness and efficiency of its operations. A successful quality assurance and improvement program (QAIP) is vital in achieving this goal. Putting in place an effective QAIP is similar to establishing a quality management program, that ensures products, processes, and services are analyzed to ensure they meet the expectations of stakeholders, an evaluation is done on operations to determine their efficiency and effectiveness and an assessment is done on practices to confirm their conformance to standards. Sustaining a functional QAIP require leaders who are responsible for setting the proper tone in support of quality. This workshop will help participants to learn how to build and maintain effective QAIPs that lead to successful external quality assessments.

Key topics to be covered include:

  • Evolution of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
  • Legal requirements for adherence to the IPPF.
  • The standards relating to building sustainable quality programs.
  • Core Principles and associated Standards that relate to building sustainable quality programs.
  • Opportunities for improving the quality and value of internal audit services.
  • Building the two key components of an effective and sustainable QAIP: ongoing and periodic assessments.
  • Developing a QAIP that exemplifies quality and continuous improvement.
  • Internal Audit Governance, Management, Staffing, and Process.

The workshop will be held from November 18-22, 2024, at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, Mombasa. Charges are KES 65,000 and KES 70,000 exclusive of VATfor Members and Non-Members respectively. The cost excludes accommodation. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE points.
