Global Internal Audit Standards have elevated the Internal Audit function in the financial services sector from traditional reporting lines and remuneration to focus on emerging areas including governance, culture, and corporate events. Prudential guidelines and recommendations from the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority recommendations emphasize supporting Internal Audit functions to carry out effective management of key risks.

This Seminar will focus on equipping internal audit functions for SACCOs to proactively increase their relevance to organizations in light of increasing scrutiny, pressure, and regulatory requirements while complying with IIA professional standards. The workshop targets Audit Committees for SACCOs and their Internal Auditors.

The Seminar will cover:

• Global Internal Audit Standards and implications for SACCOs Internal Audit Governance.
• Legal and regulatory requirements including SACCO Societies Act and regulations for deposit and non-deposit-taking societies on SACCOs Audit and Governance.
• SASRA recommendations on strengthening Internal Audit Governance.
• Role of Board Audit Committees in strengthening SACCOs Internal Audit functions.
• Role of Boards, Audit Committees, and Supervisory committees in external audit of SACCOs.
• Governance Audit, Risk, and Compliance.
• Red flags/manipulation of financial statements, accounting scandals, and financial "games."
• Components of financial statements, accuracy, completeness, and disclosures.
• Keeping Cyber Safe: Building a Comprehensive Cybersecurity Audit.

Participants attending the Seminar will get a FREE COPY of the Global Internal Audit Standards.

The Seminar will be held from June 2-6, 2025, at PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa. Charges are KES 55,000 and KES 60,000 exclusive of VAT for Members and Non-Members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.
