Dr. James Mworia Mwirigi is the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Centum Investment Company PLC (Centum), a position he has held since December 1, 2008.

During James’ tenure as CEO of Centum, total assets have increased almost 10-fold and he has conceived and initiated the establishment of many significant enterprises which include; Two Rivers, Vipingo Development, Pearl Marina in Uganda, Almasi Beverages, Nabo Capital, and Greenblade Growers amongst many others.

He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a CFA Charter Holder, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, a Fellow of the Kenyan Institute of Management, and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow.He is also the recipient of a Doctorate Degree in Business (Honoris Causa) from Machakos University.

James has served as Chairman of the Board of Almasi Beverages and he currently chairs the board of Sidian Bank. He previously served on the Boards of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation and was a member of the Committee that developed the Kenya Capital Markets Corporate Governance Guidelines.

Additionally, he is a member of the Boards of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and at least 40 other companies that form part of the Centum Group.

In October 2016 James was appointed by H.E. the President as the first Chancellor of Machakos University. In 2018 James was appointed Chairman of the Laikipia County Development Authority a body that is charged with the mandate of promoting economic and social development in the County of Laikipia.

He is a recipient of a number of awards including the East Africa Business Leader of Year 2015 the Corporate Council for Africa, Africa Business Leader of the Year 2014 which was presented in Washington DC, the Africa Young Business Leader of the Year2011 at the Africa Business Leaders Awards in Johannesburg, the Champion of Governance CEO of the Year Award presented by the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries in 2015, among many other awards.

James, 44 years, is married and he is a father of 3.

Hon. David Osiany, HSC is the Chief Administrative Secretary for the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade & Enterprise Development.

He is a consummate policy analyst and communication specialist. His extensive mulitsectoral experience spans the areas of public policy, strategic communications and government relations.

He served as a Special Advisor in the office of the Prime Minister of Kenya (2012-2013). He also formerly worked for Oxfam GB Pan-African program as a Governance Associate as well as a news anchor for Kenya’s leading broadcasting group, Royal Media Services’ HOT 96 FM.

Mr. Osiany holds BA (Comms) from University of Nairobi and MSc in Public Policy from the University of Bristol, England courtesy of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship program.

He is also a UNEP-Bayer Young Environmental Envoy awardee (2009). Prior to his current role, Hon. Osiany served as Group CEO of Crestwood Marketing & Communications Ltd, a communications company based in Nairobi with assignments across the African region.

He also had lead consulting roles with a number of multinational organizations such as PATH, UNDP, UNFPA, NAIRAS among others.

Dr. Simon Kibet Rotich is currently the Commission Secretary/CEO Public Service Commission. Dr. Rotich joined the civil service in 1991 as an Assistant Secretary Cadet in the Office of the President, rising steadily through the ranks as District Officer, District Commissioner, Undersecretary, Deputy Secretary, Senior Deputy Secretary, Director of Administration, Deputy Commission Secretary, and finally to his current position as Commission Secretary/CEO. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Commission on Implementation of the Constitution. Dr. Rotich has been a member of various selection panels constituted by the Government to recruit chairpersons and members of Constitutional and Statutory Commissions and Agencies including the National Cohesion Integration Commission, Technical Vocational Education Training Authority, and Commission on Administrative Justice. Dr. Rotich holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Moi University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyatta University. Dr. Rotich is a member of the Kenya Association of Public Administration and Management (KAPAM), an affiliate of the Africa Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM). In recognition of his contribution to public service, Dr. Rotich was awarded the Order of the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) and the Order of the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya.

Fred Riaga is the Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to The Board Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB).

He has previously worked as Chief Manager – Public Policy and Research at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

He holds an MBA in Finance, a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in accounting, and is a registered professional accountant.

Javier Faleato, CIA, CRMA, CCSA is currently the Executive Vice President, Affiliate Relations, IIA Global. Faleato directly partners with The IIA’s 112 international chapters and affiliates, as well as its robust volunteer network, to optimize global member services and resources, improve collaboration and amplify the impact and value of The IIA across the globe. An award-winning executive and published thought leader, Faleato has served as the CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Spain for the last 18 years and is a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors’ Professional Certifications Board.

Carol is a seasoned risk and compliance management leader with skills and expertise in Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity, Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, Corporate Governance and Financial Crime Compliance, and Environmental and Social Risk Management.

She has experience managing and mitigating risk under stressed and volatile conditions in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique.

She is a co-founder and Secretary of the IRM UK – East Africa Regional Group and is accredited by the IRM UK as a Fundamentals of Risk Management (FORM) trainer.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Management (University of Massachusetts, MA, USA) and is pursuing her Master’s degree in Finance (USIU, Kenya). She is a certified risk manager accredited by the Institute of Risk Management, London, U.K. and holds an international postgraduate diploma from the same institution.

She is currently completing the Executive Chief Risk Officer Certification from Carnegie Mellon University, PA, USA. Carol sits on the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report Advisory Board.

Alex is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Moran Capital Management Ltd.

He previously served as Head of Investments - East Africa at Standard Chartered Bank, Head of Wealth Management at British American Asset Managers, Unit Manager at UAP insurance, and BPO Finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Kent, Canterbury.

Dr. Ben Chumo is the Chairman of Eagle HR Consultants. He previously worked as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Power and Lighting Company from 2014 to 2017. Prior to holding this position, Dr. Ben Chumo served as Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, from 2013 to 2014 at Kenya Power and Lighting Company. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Doctorate in Philosophy, and Master of Business Administration Degrees.

Winnie is a Senior Manager in Deloitte Risk Advisory East Africa practice. She has over 12 years of experience providing Governance Risk and Compliance services including corporate governance, controls assurance, systems audit, internal audit, enterprise risk management, and sustainability (ESG) to clients across various sectors. She has served clients across Africa including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Mozambique. She has also previously worked with KPMG Canada providing similar services.
Winnie has led Sustainability and climate risk engagements that include: Development of ESG Strategies, Readiness assessment for related climate-related risks, ESG due diligence assessments, Establishing Sustainability / ESG Corporate Governance, and Assurance of Sustainability Reports. She holds a Bachelor of Business Information Technology from Strathmore University and an MBA from United States International University (USIU) Africa. In addition, she is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems and Controls, Governance of climate-related risks.

Mr. Makatiani is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer Serianu Limited and Chair of The Kenya Honeynet Project Chapter. Mr. Makatiani is currently leads a continent-wide (Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Ethiopia) effort to develop research-based insights on the state of cyber security in Africa. Before Serianu Limited, Mr. Makatiani worked with Deloitte and Touche, RSA Security, EMC Corporation, and Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. Mr. Makatiani has a strong passion for Cyber security issues with an emphasis on research-based consulting. He has over 15 years of experience in the ICT industry– focusing on ICT strategy, Analytics, Risk, and Compliance. He has led numerous engagements across the world– including Kenya, the United States, Israel, Ireland, Singapore, China, Egypt, and India. Mr. Makatiani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Masters in Science of Finance from Clark University, Worcester, MA USA and is also a graduate of EMC Corporation’s Management Leadership Programme.

Frank is Partner and Eastern Africa Markets Leader for EY where he leads strategic business development of EY’s Consulting, Strategy, Transactions, Assurance, and Tax services across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Ethiopia. He has 20+ years of experience (including 15+ years in London, UK) in investment banking and management consulting advising investors, shareholders, boards, CEOs, and government executives across Africa, the UK, the US, Europe, and Russia. Frank’s expertise is in Strategy, Governance, Transformation, M&A, and Corporate Finance. He has Executive Management qualifications in Strategy from MIT (US), holds a Law degree, and is a CPA.

Naomi is currently working as Director at TeamMate Solutions in charge of the East, Central, and West Africa region.

She previously worked as Senior Manager Implementations, Services & Support in East, Central, & West Africa Teammate Solutions.

Naomi holds Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BA), in Computer Networking from the University of Bedfordshire, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.

Mercy is a commercial lawyer and a regulatory & governance professional currently working with the Communications Authority of Kenya as the Director of Legal Services and Board Secretary. She has been involved in designing and harmonizing policy and regulation in the ICT sector at the local, regional and international levels for over 15 years. Prior to this, Mrs. Wanjau consulted with KPMG South Africa, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Kenya, and also had a stint in commercial legal practice. She has also served in international secondment at the UNAT THE Un-International Telecommunications Union. She serves on the Board of the SOS Children’s Villages and is a Council Member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (Kenya). She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi (LLB) Hons, University of Cape Town (LLM), and Strathmore Business School (AMP). Mercy is a certified Secretary and a Certified Professional Mediator. She is also an Eisenhower Fellow.

Faith is the Head of Forensic Services, KCB Bank Group, and is responsible for providing strategy on financial crime management across the Group. Faith has over 22 years of experience in financial crime management; risk management; legal advisory and compliance; regulatory affairs; business ethics and misconduct advisory. Prior to joining KCB Bank, Faith worked for Safaricom Ltd as the Senior Fraud Manager responsible for fraud risk management. Faith has also worked with KPMG as a Forensic Manager providing advisory on financial crime management and business advisory. Faith has also worked for the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, as an Investigation/ Legal Officer undertaking forensic investigation of corruption and economic crimes, asset tracing, and civil litigation. Prior to starting a career in financial and economic crime management, Faith was employed in the law firm of Archer and Wilcock Advocates and has a number of years of experience as a commercial and litigation attorney. Faith is a past chair of the Kenya Banker’s Association (KBA) Fraud and Security Committee, former Training Director of the ACFE Kenya Chapter, and former Convenor of the LSK In-House Lawyers caucus. Faith holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies. She is also a Certified Computer Forensics Expert

Daniel is currently the Senior Manager, Risk Consulting KPMG East Africa. Daniel has previously worked as the Regional Internal Audit Manager, sub-Saharan region for British Council, Risk and Compliance services Manager at KPMG East Africa, and Head of Internal Audit at the Catholic University of East Africa. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Charlie T. Wright, CIA, is 2021–22 Chairman of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global Board of Directors. In this role, Wright leads the 17-member Global Board, is chair of the Supervisory Committee and presides over Global Assembly. Wright is an experienced Chief Audit Executive with more than 35 years of corporate experience in the airline, energy, and financial services industries. He has been in the internal audit profession for more than 19 years. Before becoming Global Chair, Wright’s volunteer roles at The IIA included senior vice chair, vice chair of Finance and of Professional Guidance, chair of the North American Advocacy Committee and of the Global Committee Task Force, and member of the Three Lines Model task force. Wright is also a former editor of the Risk Watch column in Internal Auditor magazine and a speaker and presenter at many IIA and other conferences.

Jacob is a business leader who strives to combine a strong go-tomarket capability with quality ICT consulting delivered with expertise. He wants to grow with an outstanding community, mutually achieve personal and organizational financial goals. He is driven to create value by optimizing resources to full usage and making customers out of sceptics across the region for stronger governance and business performance.

Dr. David Muturi holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Central Nicaragua; a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from Kenyatta University; and a Bachelor of Education (Business Studies and Economics) from the University of Nairobi. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) as well as a Certified business excellence assessor with the EFQM European foundation for quality management. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Muturi has built a successful track record in management and grown exceptional experience. At KCA University, he was the Dean, the Faculty of Commerce and Distance Learning and he also headed the professional Programs. Thereafter, Dr. Muturi ascended to the pinnacle of the Kenya Institute of Management as Executive Director/CEO. Dr. Muturi is professionally affiliated to, and a fellow of, the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Kenya (ICPAK). He also co-founded and was convener of the Africa Governance, Leadership, and Management Convention. Dr. Muturi has been the chairperson of the panel of adjudicators for the Public service Award, under the ministry of public service, youth, and gender for the Government of The Republic of Kenya for years 2012, 2017, and 2019.

Mr Mwika is currently the managing director of Grande Afrique Consulting Limited (GAC), an Africa wide consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has over 20 years of experience in delivering Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management Consultancy and Fraud Investigation & Management services in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, and South Africa.
Mwika has previously worked with among others, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), KPMG, Bata Shoe Company, Mumias Sugar Company, Sovereign Group Limited and AH Consulting.
In recent years at Grande Afrique Consulting Limited, Mwika has led his firm to fully automate Internal Audit and Risk departments in several Public and Private sector institutions in East Africa, especially through the implementation of Risk-Based Data-Driven Continuous Auditing and Continuous Monitoring.
GAC is currently the Africa reseller of Auditrunner Audit Management System. Mwika is also extensively engaged in several Fraud Investigations and Cybercrime investigations in East Africa.
Mwika is a BSc. Computer Science graduate of Egerton University, a CPA (K), CPA (U), CIA, CISA and CISM as well a member of ICPAK, ICPAU, ISACA, IIA and ACFE.
